“A lot of me is woven into the fabric of the company,” Messika says, reflecting on how her identity influences her work. “At my core, I am a sweet, family-oriented person. Family is my foundation, it’s the backbone that supports everything I do.”

A FOUNDATION FOR CHANGE
After reaching enormous professional success, Messika felt driven to give back. This prompted the establishment of the Valerie Messika Foundation, which focuses on assisting women and children worldwide.
“The foundation was born out of a sense of responsibility,” she tells ELLE. “After COVID, I realized it was time to give back on a larger scale. My life has been full of blessings, and I wanted to demonstrate the value of giving back to my children.”
Messika’s foundation addresses issues ranging from education to healthcare, particularly in regions like Lebanon, India, and Africa.
“Women in some societies lack freedom due to financial dependence. By empowering them through education and healthcare, we can create real change,” she says passionately. “Children are the roots of society. The more they are educated, the better the world becomes.”
REDEFINING HIGH JEWELRY
“Growing up with my father, surrounded by diamonds, I wanted to bring that sense of accessibility into my work,” says Messika, whose designs challenge conventional ideas of high jewelry as excessively formal and sacrosanct.
“I want people to feel free, stylish, and versatile. High jewelry doesn’t have to be confined to special occasions,” says Messika of her designs.
Her creative approach extends to the technical aspects of design. “I’m obsessed with making jewelry sparkle like a diamond tattoo,” she shares. “I sometimes make the gold disappear completely to highlight the brilliance of the diamonds. My team and I are constantly pushing the boundaries of versatility, whether it’s a necklace that transforms into a brooch, adjustable earrings, or a ring that changes size.”
CELEBRATING EGYPTIAN HERITAGE
One of Messika’s most well-known collections was influenced by Egyptian culture. “I grew up fascinated by Cleopatra, her femininity, strength, and the advanced nature of ancient Egyptian civilization,” she tells ELLE.
The collection paid homage to these themes by combining Messika’s modern designs with the grandeur of history. “Transforming elements like the cartouche into contemporary designs felt like a natural extension of my brand’s philosophy.”
MIDNIGHT SUN: A PLAY OF LIGHT
Messika’s most recent collection, Midnight Sun 2, continues her exploration of innovation and storytelling.
“The collection is a blend of yellow and white gold, capturing the transition from day to night,” the designer states. “The yellow gold represents the sun, and the white gold and diamonds represent the sparkling night.” It’s a salute to 1980s enthusiasm, brought to life with music, lighting, and dramatic designs.”
Her favorites include Messika Supernature, the collection’s powerful opening piece. “It’s a stunning diamond necklace with ovals ranging from 35 to 7 carats.” It’s forceful yet light, capturing the essence of contemporary high jewelry.”
FOR ASPIRING CREATORS
Messika has sound advice for young ladies wanting to break into the luxury fashion and jewelry industries. “Follow your instincts,” she advises. “If you believe anything is missing from the market, pursue it. Surround yourself with people who will complement your abilities and shortcomings. “Success is not achieved alone; it is a collaborative effort.”
