Marking a significant milestone of celebrating 100 years of the Schutz American School, the school situated in the bustling streets of Alexandria, embarks on a creative journey that showcases some of the finest artworks and the creatives behind them at the Schutz Art Exhibition.
THE SHUTZ ART EXHIBITION: UNLEASHING CREATIVITY
Taking its position as the oldest American school in Africa and garnering a deep history in academic excellence, what other way to honor such stupendous success than curating an exhibition that presents diversity and creativity to glorify 100 years of the same mission achieved by Schutz.
Having taken place on 16th May, the Schutz art exhibition, Unleashing Creativity: An Invitation to Immerse in Art, placed professional Egyptian artists throughout time under the spotlight of artistic storytelling.
With the school’s commitment to embracing a learning environment that uplifts creativity and versatility, the exhibition emphasized such dedication through the arts, which respect and celebrate the rich tapestry of those artists. The immersive art achieved its purpose of establishing the power of creativity in uniting and inspiring.
BE OUR GUEST!
With the paintings doing their own talking to inspire onlookers, the exhibition was graced with the equally as awe-inspiring words of several esteemed diplomats and business owners, such as Lina Blin, the General Consul of France in Alexandria, Waleed Kanoush, Head of Fine Arts and the Cultural Department Fund Sector at the Ministry of Culture, as well as business owner and alumnus Youssef Rabie, Chairman of Dreem and Vice Chairman of Rasheed Mashreq Group.
During the exhibition, Schutz also had the privilege of hosting an additional distinguished guest speaker: Mr. Ruben Harutunian, the Minister Counselor for Public Diplomacy of the US Embassy. Their enlightening speeches underscored the significance of art and culture in fostering unity and enhancing mutual comprehension.
INSPIRED CREATIVITY
The exhibition came as part of an ode to showing respect to the arts and their way of sending various messages to different audiences. In collaboration with alumnus Youssef Rabie, an avid art collector, the exhibition came together to put Egyptian heritage under the light, in a way that no other school in Egypt has done before.
AN ANNUAL ARTISTIC JOURNEY
Met with an overwhelming response, more than 400 attendees on campus went to marvel at the various different artworks at the Schutz Art Exhibition, whether diplomats, business associates or members of society, the exhibition put a prideful showcase and great exposure towards the countless artists, as well as its ability to expand community outreach and networking, “at Schutz we value our heritage and expressing it,” recalled Ingy Badawy, Head of Marketing and Communications.
After the exhibition’s immaculate success and responses, Schutz aims to turn the honorary exhibition into a potential annual one. “The artists all left the exhibition with hopes of a potential repetition of another exhibition the following year, everyone was happy and proud of their work, and we will definitely consider another repetition.”
