A wide roster of designers eager to share their views for the forthcoming season offered an intriguing demonstration of innovation and originality on Day 2 of Paris Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2025.
With excitement building in the fashion capital, the collections showcased a fusion of classic elegance and avant-garde aesthetics, enthralling viewers with their audacious declarations and deft workmanship.
Each presentation featured both well-known performers and up-and-comers, which explored themes of identity, sustainability, and cross-cultural interaction, adding yet another unforgettable chapter to this legendary occasion.
CHRISTIAN DIOR
For Spring/Summer 2025, Maria Grazia Chiuri’s designs for Dior draw inspiration from athleticism, particularly in the context of the Paris Olympics. This season, she focused on Amazons, influenced by Christian Dior’s 1951 design and contemporary artist Sagg Napoli, a competitive archer.
Napoli’s striking performance, featuring arrow shooting in a dramatic installation, set the tone for a collection that fused couture elegance with sporty elements. Key motifs included a seven-stripe design reminiscent of early ‘70s Op Art and graphic patterns, blending athletic wear with sophisticated pieces like tailored suits and goddess gowns.
Chiuri highlighted the evolving identity of female athletes, encouraging personal expression over traditional uniforms, though there’s potential for more diverse representation in her models.
ALAINPAUL
For Spring/Summer 2025, the ALAINPAUL collection draws deeply from his background as a trained dancer, emphasizing movement and freedom. Presented at the Theatre Chatelet, the collection integrates elements of ballet wardrobe into an everyday look, showcasing innovative shapes that balance restraint and release.
Key pieces include stretchy stirrup styles that transform from structured to fluid silhouettes, along with sheer layers and modern dressy options. Paul’s signature tailoring features forward-tilted shoulder pads, creating a striking yet elegant posture.
He also incorporates eco-responsibility, using organic cotton and 100% wool, positioning his brand as a sustainable choice in contemporary fashion. The collection reflects a compelling blend of artistry and practicality, rooted in dance.
GERMANIER
Kevin Germanier’s Spring/Summer 2025 collection, Les Désastreuses, showcases dramatic silhouettes and imaginative use of materials that elevate it to artistry and extravagance.
The collection features bold shapes crafted from reworked elements like unwanted Havaianas sandals and oversized holographic sequins, creating striking visual contrasts.
The playful use of “cheap tinsel” and other repurposed materials highlights a commitment to spectacle and creativity. With unique forms and a daring approach to sustainability, these stunning pieces would undoubtedly captivate at events like the Met Gala, where their theatricality truly deserves the spotlight.
MAME KUROGOUCHI
Mame Kurogouchi took inspiration for her Spring/Summer 2025 collection from the complex interaction between light and shadow in nature, which she showcased during Paris Fashion Week.
Kurogouchi, renowned for her poetic approach to design, concentrated on hand-dyed fabrics, delicate tailoring, and translucent layers in her collection to create a timeless and tranquil vibe.
The collection frequently featured delicate elements that mirrored natural environments, such as translucent panels, flowing shapes, and an earthy color scheme of sandy beiges, moss greens, and pastel blues.
Kurogouchi enhanced the collection’s handcrafted aspect by utilizing elaborate Japanese handicrafts, such as crochet and handwoven linens. The ensembles were finished with pieces like simple jewelry and woven purses, which emphasized a symbiotic relationship between traditional workmanship and the natural world.
MARIE ADAM-LEENAERDT
Nature and urban settings serve as the inspiration for Marie Adam-Leenaerdt’s Paris Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2025 collection, which combines organic materials with streamlined forms.
Two important elements are the contrast between expert tailoring and raw materials. Earthy tones are frequently reflected in the color scheme, emphasizing a link to the natural world. The collection’s overall goal is to investigate the perfect balance between modern style and the natural world’s splendor.
SAINT LAURENT
As the embodiment of a woman who embraces her contemporary sense of agency while giving in to her darker impulses, Saint Laurent is synonymous with a complicated female figure. Since the House’s founding, this duality has been its defining characteristic.
Anthony Vaccarello is committed to advancing its vision by emulating Yves Saint Laurent’s signature mix of sensibility and sophistication.
This contrast is reflected in the Spring/Summer 2025 collection. Yves’s signature tailoring is referenced in flowing suits and jackets, while extravagant, skirt-centric ensembles are influenced by the colorful creations of the painters he liked.
Every outfit in the exhibition honors notable ladies who have influenced the history of Saint Laurent. The collection’s dramatic and timeless appeal was further heightened by the gigantic set, which had a dark courtyard lighted by a golden frieze and Yves’ signature Marrakech blue color.
Stay tuned for day three of Paris Fashion Week!
