The spring/summer 2024 collections offer a new range of the once-called new trend in Paris, which Yves Saint Laurent brought from Morocco to Paris. It started with the so-famous safari jacket that he introduced in his 1967 runway show.
With the safari jacket, Saint Laurent continued to define his style, which borrowed from male codes of dress to revolutionize women’s fashion. He was inspired by both the uniforms worn by the Afrika Korps and, more broadly, the outfits worn by Occidental men in Africa. Made of cotton gabardine, the safari jacket was a comfortable piece suitable for hot summers. It perfectly embodied the spirit of freedom sparked by the 1960s as well as a new form of seduction.
This season, Anthony Vaccarello’s SS24 collection was based on the Saharienne jacket, incorporating jumpsuits and shirtdresses as a homage to Saint Laurent’s North African influences in fashion.
An entire theme of escapism and an outdoor ambiance was evident in this season’s collections.
Sacer’s The Soul collection is a conversation with human’s inner spirit. An ode to the very first recorded “mental health diagnosis” done by the Ancient Egyptians who divided the soul into 9 parts. ‘AKH,‘ the immortal self jumpsuit. Modular, sustainable, circular, gender-neutral up-cycled pieces completely made subtle of pre-consumer waste.
