On May 3rd, the first Hechter Cup took place in Egypt at Madinaty’s golf course. Selected golf players were invited to participate in the much-anticipated competition, which is set to become an annual event.

The competition was sponsored by Hechter Paris, who is a passionate and unwavering supporter of various sports, with golf now an integrated part of its aspirations.

Organized by Hechter Paris Egypt in collaboration with TMG Group, the players received customized polo shirts to compete for the trophy brought in from France along with customized golf balls.

“I started playing golf four years ago,” Paul Antaki, a member of the board of directors of Hechter Paris, tells ELLE. “I’m more of a tennis player, and my wife is more of the golfer. Being a tennis player and she a golfer meant we couldn’t see each other on the weekends, so I made some concessions.” Antaki continues jokingly.

“I like golf apparel a lot, and I pick it attentively.” Antaki tells us, “I’m picky, because I’m in the fashion business, so I choose top-quality fabrics, and colors that match trousers, and shorts. Everything has to match, even the cap!”

After four hours of tense competition, it was time for the prize-giving ceremony headed by Lebanese actress Nour alongside Antaki. The first prize went to Omar Talaat Mostafa with a 30,000EGP voucher to be used in Hechter Paris stores, a two-night stay in a deluxe room in Sharm El Sheikh, and a 3-month golf membership. Second prize went to Burhan Rateb with a 20,000EGP voucher to be used in Hechter Paris stores, a two-night stay in a deluxe room in Alexandria, and a 3-month golf membership. Third prize went to Youssem Tamam with a 20,000EGP voucher to be used in Hechter Paris stores, a one-night stay in a deluxe room in Cairo Nile Plaza, and a 3-month golf membership. Other winners included Ali Fahmy, Nadia Ziwar, and Tarek Ashry.
