Renowned star Mona Zaki has won the Best Actress award for her powerful performance in Rihlat 404, at the Egyptian Cinema Writers and Critics Association’s awards for Egyptian Cinema in 2024.
Director Hany Khalifa also claimed the Best Director award for the film, which premiered in January 2024.
Rehla 404 stars a distinguished cast, including Mona Zaki, Mohamed Farrag, Mohamed Mamdouh, Sherine Reda, Khaled El-Sawy, Mohamed Alaa, Sama Ibrahim, Rana Raies, Gihan El-Shamashergi, and Arfa Abdel-Rasoul. The movie was written by Mohamed Raga and directed by Hany Khalifa.
Previously known as Cairo-Mecca, the movie follows Ghada, just days before her journey to Mecca for Hajj. She finds herself in a desperate situation that forces her to seek help from people from her troubled past, whom she had cut ties with. Stuck between raising a large amount of money and saving for the trip, her decision leads her down a dangerous path that could change her life forever.
Also, the Film Syndicate has announced that Rehla 404 is Egypt’s official submission for the 2025 Academy Awards.
