This February, Royal Opera House Muscat (ROHM) promises an exceptional mix of captivating performances and enriching educational experiences that celebrate both timeless artistry and the beauty of cultural exchange. From mesmerizing classical ballet and grand concerts to an insightful tribute to an Arab music legend, ROHM’s February lineup offers something for everyone.
UPCOMING PERFORMANCES
The month kicks off with the enchanting A Thousand and One Nights, a classical ballet inspired by Middle Eastern folklore, on February 6 and 7. This stunning performance, brought to ROHM by the esteemed Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre in Vladivostok, features evocative music by Fikret Amirov. The ballet transports the audience to a magical world, bringing iconic tales like Sinbad the Sailor and Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves to life with exquisite choreography.
On February 13, ROHM will host its much-anticipated annual Pipe Organ Concert, showcasing the majestic sound of Oman’s renowned pipe organ. The concert will feature the talented Claudio Astronio on the organ, accompanied by the Piccoli Cantori di Torino children’s choir and the Royal Oman Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Gianluca Marciano. In a special cultural exchange, children’s choirs from local Muscat schools will join the performance, creating an unforgettable evening of music and unity.
The spotlight on Arab music continues with Homage to Mohammed Abdul Wahab on February 15 and 20. This two-part tribute to the legendary Arab composer and singer features an all-star lineup of artists, including Ali El Haggar, Mohammed Mohsen, Reham Abdul Hakim, and Jahida Wehbe. The tribute extends over several days, with an exhibition, discussion sessions, and a screening of Abdul Wahab’s beloved film A Bullet in the Heart.
