THE WOMAN BETWEEN THE FRAMES
The first look of the afternoon sets the tone. Wearing a cream knitted Tommy polo vest paired with sharply tailored navy trousers, Kiwan embodies the same understated confidence that runs through her conversation. Polished without ever feeling overworked, the look mirrors her own approach to style – timeless, effortless and instinctive.
When asked where she feels most like herself, there isn’t even a pause before she answers.
“Egypt is home.”
Living abroad, she explains, only strengthened that conviction.
“Living abroad for so many years actually made me understand that even more. Dubai has been such a huge part of my life and who I am, and I’m grateful for everything it gave me, but Egypt is where I feel rooted.”
It isn’t nostalgia she describes, but something more poignant. An understanding that distance has a way of sharpening the places and people that define us. Her career may continue to carry her across borders, but Egypt remains the place she instinctively returns to.
“My life and my career will always take me to different places,” she says. “I love that, but Egypt is the place I come back to and feel most like myself.”
Returning to Tommy Hilfiger feels equally natural. Having first represented the brand in 2019, today’s collaboration arrives at a very different stage of her life, yet feels no less authentic.
“It’s always felt very natural to me,” she says. “I’ve always loved that effortless, classic kind of dressing. I love pieces that feel timeless but still have personality. I want to feel put together, but never like I tried too hard.”
BEYOND THE SCREEN
Kiwan reappears in a cropped blue-and-white pinstriped shirt layered over flowing white linen trousers, defined by Tommy Hilfiger’s signature waistband. Relaxed yet refined, it captures the coastal ease she naturally gravitates towards.
Fashion for her, however, has never been about following rules.
“If my wardrobe could only tell one story about me,” she reflects, “it would probably say there are many versions of me, and I’m comfortable letting all of them exist.”
The sentiment lingers long after she says it.
Later, changing into tomato-red linen drawstring trousers paired with a white-and-navy striped knit polo, she expands on the thought.
“Some days I’m very feminine, some days relaxed, some days I want to be bold, and sometimes I just want the perfect jeans and a white shirt.”
Throughout our conversation, that philosophy quietly repeats itself. She has never seemed interested in choosing between the collective world’s she occupies. Instead, she allows each version of herself to exist alongside the others, embracing contradiction rather than trying to resolve it.
CHALLENGING YOUR PERCEPTIONS
By the time the conversation turns to motherhood, Kiwan has changed into a maroon one-piece detailed with tortoiseshell buckles. It is one of the collection’s more sculptural silhouettes, yet she wears it with the same effortless confidence that defines every look throughout the day.
Asked whether motherhood has changed the stories she is drawn to, her answer shifts away from career and towards people.
“Completely.”
“You become much more aware of what’s underneath someone’s behaviour, their fears, their vulnerabilities, the things they don’t say.”
It is a perspective that has transformed the way she approaches acting.
“I think that has definitely affected me as an actress because I’m drawn to characters who have layers and contradictions.”
Rather than narrowing her ambitions, motherhood seems to have expanded her emotional landscape. She speaks less about balance than about understanding – learning to see beyond appearances and recognising the complexity in those around her.
“My boys have probably taught me as much as I’ve taught them,” she says. “They’ve made me softer in some ways, stronger in others, and much more aware of what actually matters at the end of the day.”
ALWAYS ANOTHER CHAPTER AHEAD
For someone whose career has crossed countries, industries and creative disciplines, there is remarkably little attachment to following a conventional path.
Ask what has remained constant throughout it all and the answer arrives almost immediately.
“Curiosity.”
“I’ve never been afraid of changing direction or starting something new. My path hasn’t been completely linear, but I actually love that about it.”
As the final look of the afternoon comes together – a Tommy-red short-sleeved shirt softly cinched at the waist, paired with relaxed tan linen shorts – Kiwan returns to the camera as effortlessly as she left it. Moments earlier she was laughing with the crew; now she slips back into frame without missing a beat.
That quiet ability to move between worlds seems to define her as much as any title ever could.
“I’ve always wanted to grow, to challenge myself and to keep discovering different sides of who I am,” she says. “I never want to feel like I’ve arrived and that’s it. I always want there to be another chapter.”
Today, that curiosity is pulling her towards increasingly demanding roles.
“I want roles that scare me a little. Characters that are complicated and very different from who people think I am. I’m especially interested in stories that can travel beyond one market, because my own life has always existed between different cultures and places.”
She is equally excited by the creative ventures that exist beyond acting.
“I don’t want to limit myself to one title,” she says. “I’m excited to see where all these different parts of my life can take me next.”
By the end of the afternoon, it becomes clear that Enjy Kiwan’s story has never been about choosing between the many roles she inhabits. Instead, each moving part is simply another frame in a much larger picture.
