The Grand Egyptian Museum, a building that already carries the weight of history in its walls, hosted one of Cairo’s most important art events on the evening of May 12th. Ulter by Valu, in partnership with TAM Gallery brought the tenth edition of Artists of Tomorrow to GEM’s Glass Court, and the pairing felt like a match made in heaven. In attendance were Egypt’s most devoted patrons of the arts. On the walls was the work of some of the most significant artists, both upcoming and established.

ARTISTS OF TOMORROW

Ten years is a long time in any creative landscape. In Egypt’s, it’s the difference between a scene that was still finding its footing and one that has produced artists whose names are now world renowned.

Ulter by Valu Egypt joined TAM Gallery’s 10th Anniversary of ‘Artists of Tomorrow’ to celebrate ten years of shaping Egypt’s contemporary art landscape, and was supported by EFG Holding, the Art Patron. The exclusive vernissage brings together over 100 artists, collectors, and cultural figures for a night centered around creativity, dialogue, and artistic legacy. The curatorial experience moved chronologically, nine retrospective clusters tracing the shape of a decade, each one a chapter, until the tenth: the artists debuting their art now.artists of tomorrow

What the evening understood, beyond the work on the walls, was that celebrating art and making it accessible are not separate ambitions. Ulter by Valu came to the night as financial partner with something we don’t often see: the ability for guests to actually acquire the work they were standing in front of.

Repayment plans of up to 60 months, no down payment required, and an exclusive interest rate available only to those in attendance that evening. The financial architecture that has historically kept serious art collecting within a very small circle was  deliberately being dismantled. You could fall in love with something and take it home. That has previously been rarer than it sounds.

EFG Holding, the evening’s art patron, has long held the position that art is simultaneously a cultural cornerstone and a tangible, appreciating asset. The tenth edition of Artists of Tomorrow made both arguments in the same breath; and in doing so, inside one of the most significant historical and cultural institutions in the world, said something about where Egypt’s art scene stands and where it is going.

The Glass Court held all of it: the retrospective and the debut, the established and the arriving, the act of looking and the possibility of owning. The evening belonged equally to the art and to the people who love it.
