Day three of NYFW brought us an abundance of collaborations with heritage and artists that produced a plethora of vibrant prints that stimulated the onlooking eyes.
Off-White and Tommy Hilfiger’s inspiration nodded to cultural legacy, which introduced structure and rich textiles to the runways, whilst the likes of Ulla Johnson and Jason Wu collaborated with artists to bring depth and interest to various patterns.
Here are some of our favorite looks from day three of NYFW:
JASON WU
The Spring/Summer 2025 collection by Jason Wu, who took influence from Taiwanese calligrapher Tong Yang-Tze, struck a balance between flow and structure.
The collection created a sensation of movement and contrast by combining aggressive geometric features with soft, flowing textiles.
Black and white were combined with pastel colors, and textures were enhanced by using materials like silk and chiffon. Wu experimented with day and evening attire, fusing carefree, disassembled styles with exquisite artistry.
OFF-WHITE
Emotions have just as much power as logos. The inspiration for the Off-White Spring/Summer 2025 collection came from a trip to Ghana, the hometown of Virgil Abloh, who regularly mentioned Ghana in his artwork.
The common feelings and viewpoints of Ib Kamara are integrated into this collection, which reflects the utopian vision of possibility that America, especially New York, represents in the collective African imagination.
DUTY FREE refers to the relationship between the United States and Africa through the sharing of cultures through sportswear. In partnership with modern Ghanaian artist Nana Danso, new essential symbols are introduced that encapsulate the main topics of the season.
The collection has a distinct sense of tautness and functionality thanks to its combination of African futurism, athletic influences, and sharp lines.
PHILLIP LIM
Phillip Lim’s SS25 collection centers on the theme of joy and aims to reconnect with the essence of creating clothes for oneself and the community.
Drawing from two decades of experience, Lim reflected on his journey and passions and incorporated a variety of textures such as denim, camouflage, and lace. The collection also featured rosette appliqué motifs, paying homage to his Spring 2007 collection.
This retrospective approach emphasizes a return to the fundamental pleasures of fashion and highlights passion, creativity, and the joy of garment creation.
TOMMY HILFIGER
For the SS25 collection, Tommy Hilfiger drew inspiration from nautical themes, merging preppy, collegiate, and modern all-American styles. The show occurred on the Staten Island Ferry, providing an ideal maritime backdrop.
The collection featured nautical stripes inspired by sailing heritage, alongside casual pieces like capri pants and oversized knits. It also included varsity jackets, trench coats, club blazers, and polos, accessorized with bandanas.
Described as New American Prep, the collection blends vibrant Ivy League aesthetics with coastal functionality.
ULLA JOHNSON
Ulla Johnson, renowned for her vibrant use of color, collaborated with the estate of Lee Krasner, one of Abstract Expressionism’s prominent female painters, for her SS25 collection.
This two-year effort brought Krasner’s energetic pink and green brushstrokes to the runway and featured prominently in the collection. The designs balanced this artful highlight with solid-colored utility pieces, such as cargo vests and skirts, and contrasted them with diaphanous chiffons and lacy lingerie slips.
Johnson’s integration of Krasner’s art into her designs underscores her innovative approach to blending fine art with fashion.
Stay tuned for day four of NYFW!
