“I don’t like acting. I’m in love with becoming the people on the page rather than pretending to be them.”
— Amr Gamal
Amr Gamal has built a career exploring the emotional truth of storytelling. Known for his roles across television and film, Gamal approaches acting as more than performance. For him, it is a way of exploring human vulnerability, connection, and authenticity.
Alongside his work on screen, he is the co-founder of Alam Tany, widely recognized as one of Egypt’s leading acting studios. Through this platform, Gamal works with actors and creatives to explore storytelling, self-expression, and emotional awareness in a space built on openness, curiosity, and artistic exploration.
FROM STAGE TO SCREEN
Gamal began his artistic journey in 2010 through acting workshops and theatre productions, where he developed a deep fascination with the emotional and psychological layers of performance.
Over the years, he has appeared in several well-known Egyptian series including Valentino, Segn El Nesa, Rivo, Suits, Meen Qal, Ma Taraho Laysa Kama Yabdo, and Kamel El Adad. Through these roles, Gamal has continued to explore characters that reveal the complexity and contradictions of human behavior. For him, every role is an opportunity for discovery, an artistic investigation into emotion, identity, and truth.
This Ramadan season, Gamal returns to television as a guest star in the series Ras El Afaa, continuing to expand his presence on screen with roles that reflect contemporary storytelling in Egyptian drama.

THE IDEA BEHIND ALAM TANY
While acting remains central to his career, Gamal’s passion for the deeper emotional power of performance led him to co-found Alam Tany, which translates to “another world.”
Today, the studio has become a creative hub for actors, artists, and storytellers seeking a deeper connection to their craft. Through workshops, training programs, and artistic collaborations, Alam Tany has helped hundreds of participants explore vulnerability, creativity, and personal storytelling.
The sessions combine improvisation, movement, and storytelling exercises designed to help participants reconnect with their emotions and inner narratives. Rather than focusing purely on acting technique, the work encourages presence, empathy, and honest expression.
For Gamal, coaching actors and guiding creatives is not separate from his artistic journey. It is an extension of it.

THE BODY AS PART OF THE ART
For Gamal, artistic expression is not limited to words or performance alone. Physical awareness and discipline are equally essential to the creative process.
Maintaining a strong fitness routine, he views the body as an instrument of storytelling, much like a dancer or performer. The body carries emotion, instinct, and presence, making physical awareness an important part of the actor’s craft.
“As actors, our body is our instrument,” Gamal explains. “Taking care of it isn’t about aesthetics alone. It’s about discipline, health, and being fully present in the moment.”

ACTING AS A SPACE FOR DISCOVERY
For Gamal, the connection between acting, creativity, and personal growth is natural. All three require curiosity, courage, and the willingness to explore different perspectives.
As an actor, writer, and coach, he continues to explore the intersection where storytelling, emotional awareness, and human connection meet. Through both his work on screen and his role in shaping Alam Tany, he is helping inspire a new generation of performers to embrace vulnerability and creativity, reminding them that art becomes powerful when it is rooted in truth.
