Cairo, October 30, 2024 – Celebrated actor Mostafa Fahmy passed away at the age of 82, after a brief battle with illness. The news of his passing came suddenly and unexpectedly to his fans and the creative community at large.
Mostafa Fahmy, the younger brother of the celebrated actor Hussein Fahmy, underwent a delicate brain surgery last August after a diagnosis of a brain tumor. According to close sources, he died in the early hours of this morning after his health deteriorated in the late hours of last night.

Fahmy was born on August 7, 1942, into an aristocratic Egyptian family of Circassian origin. His grandfather, Mohamed Pasha Fahmy, was the head of the Shura Council, and his father, Mahmoud Fahmy Pasha, was the secretary of the Shura Council. His grandmother, Amina Hanem El-Manasterly, was the owner of Manasterly Rest House. Fahmy studied at the High Cinema Institute in Cairo and obtained a BA in the photography department.
He began his creative career as an assistant photographer in the film “Amira My Love” in 1974, in which his brother played the lead role. He married an Italian woman, and the couple had a son and a daughter. He then married actress Rania Farid Shawqi – daughter of the late star Farid Shawqi – from 2007 until their separation in 2012. In 2015, he married Lebanese journalist and TV host Faten Moussa, until they also separated in 2021.
